Pro-bond Wet Pour was designed for use in play areas in particular beneath children's play
equipment.
First and foremost, putting it simply, it was devised to minimise the risk of injury to children
who fall in playgrounds.
Due to its long lasting properties wet pour has proved itself as a versatile surface for many
other applications including golf walkways and multi use games areas, splash zones, driving ranges, hospitals and
care homes ....
As well as serving its purpose well as the preferred choice for a safety surface its uses and
design versatility ensure the surface can be just as stimulating as the playground equipment. Previous designs from
imaginative local architects have included, marine themes, nature themes, fantastic aboriginal designs. Some
schools have chosen to incorporate education themes in there nursery areas with letters, shapes and numbers all in

Pro-bond Wet Pour is a continuous, seam-free (on smaller areas), porous material made
from rubber granules and polyurethane binders.
It is mixed and laid on site as a wet-pour product and can be laid in any shape, either on a purpose-built base
usually MOT Type 1 or over existing tarmac or concrete. The base layer is made from recycled tyres and is known as
SBR. The top layer consists of smaller rubber granules that are known as EPDM this is rubber that is “virgin” never
having been used for any purpose before. This is available in many exciting colours with excellent UV stability and
strength.
The elastic nature of the rubber provides an absorbent cushion when a fall onto the surface occurs. The greater the
depth of the cushioning, the more impact can be absorbed.
The depth of the Wet Pour system is determined by the height of the play equipment, the higher
the equipment the thicker the base rubber layer. The top layer carries the strength of the surface and remains at a
constant depth of 15mm.
